| 4. Mix cobalt blue, white and small amount of raw sienna to make a dusty blue for Mary’s mantle and dress. |
5. After paint has thoroughly dried, use large brush and raw umber or van dyke brown, quickly brush entire figure. |
6. As soon as figure is painted with antiquing color, use a soft cloth and gently rub off brown paint. Leave dark paint in carved areas. |
7. Using a fine tip brush paint details such as: cheeks, hair, beards, etc. Highlight garments with a dry brush using lighter shades of color as desired. |
8. Paint bottom of figure with dark brown. |
9. When paint is dry, seal with Krylon Matte Finish varnish, 4-5 coats, or try a paint-on polycrylic protective coating. |
